Routing Template - String Ferrule Bar

Laser cut and engraved, 0.35” laser cut acrylic routing template for our String Ferrule Bar.

Rear laser-engraved center lines for ease of placement. You can also use the holes in the removable portion of the template (use a 3/32” drill bit) to line the outer section up where you need it, if you have drilled string-through pilot holes already or are upgrading from existing individual ferrules.
Rounded template corners so you don’t put dings in the guitar body when removing the template.

I recommend using a 1/2” cutting height router bit, such as the Amana Tool 45475-3TS. The 0.35” template allows you plenty of thickness for the bearing to follow so that you can clear out most of the wood with forstner bits by drilling, then come in and clean up with a trim router (that’s how I install them!).
I also recommend using blue painter’s tape on the guitar body and the rear of the template, and adhere the tape together with just a couple small dabs of superglue, as opposed to double stick tape. I find this to be much stronger but also much easier to remove than double stick tape, not to mention much less expensive over time.
