FAQs & Contact Us

  • If you are interested in a custom guitar with specs other than what is listed for each Standard/Deluxe model, please use the form under the Custom listing on each model’s page to plug in your specs and request a quote.

We will review your specs and provide you with a customized quote within 5 business days! If you don’t see an email within a week, please check your Spam folder before following up.

As of 2024, we will be limiting the number of available of Custom build slots. If you are interested, please reach out so we can get you in the queue and secure your spot!

  • We’d be happy to set up a payment plan for you just like we do for Deluxe and Custom models! Just reach out using the form below and we can send the invoice to whatever email you include in the form.

Please also review our Policies page, as we have updated the payment plan terms for 2024.

  • The Nova Series was introduced for 2024 as a more basic version of our standard specs. These guitars are still made in the same shop the same way, but without all the custom options available on the Standard and Deluxe lines.

By standardizing the specs for the entire line and not allowing any customizations, we’re able to offer these guitars at less than half the price of our Standard models!

  • All Nova Series, Standard/Deluxe models and In-Stock purchases are eligible for a 10 business day trial period.

The only way to truly appreciate the quality of a Moon Guitars instrument is to put it to the test through your own gear, and see what the hype is really all about. Your trial period starts when the instrument is DELIVERED to you (not when it ships). If you are unsatisfied for any reason, you may return it for a prompt refund or exchange - you would only be responsible for the shipping fees.

*Trial periods DO NOT apply to Custom orders. Due to the nature of custom work, there are no refunds or returns accepted on Custom orders.

I will always do whatever I can to address any issues or concerns you may have if you are unsatisfied with a custom order, within reason. I pride myself on quality and put a lot of time and energy into every instrument I create, and I want you to be inspired to make more music with your instruments!

  • Unfortunately, NO. It’s very difficult to verify (in most cases) how the wood was dried, or how it was sourced in the first place, which can lead to too many potential QC issues down the road. An improperly dried body blank, for example, could lead to a body that twists and becomes unplayable over time, well after it leaves our shop.

We have very good relationships with trustworthy and responsible lumber vendors, and have access to just about any kind of wood you could want, so leave it to us!

  • While we started as a custom shop and can do just about anything, Moon Guitars only produces our own models and shapes. That being said, if you want an S-style layout on one of our body shapes, that’s no problem!

Head on over to any model’s page and select the Custom quote button, fill out your desired specs, and let us know in the Additional Info field what layout you’re looking to imitate. For example, check out this JM inspired Moon Burn we made in 2021!

  • We do not sell standalone parts under any circumstance, only completed new instruments.

Our bodies and necks are also not designed to be compatible with other manufacturers’ designs, so most non-luthiers would have a difficult time completing a build with our components.

  • You would not believe how often we get asked this!

Yes we offer basses! Yes we offer every model left-handed, at no extra cost!

We largely get by on custom orders and rarely have time to build stock. If you want to see more lefties or more basses, the best thing to do is to order one!

  • Unfortunately no… in 99.99% of cases. We aren’t a music store, we are a custom guitar manufacturer.

That being said, if you have something specific that the owner (Kyle Wolfe) is particularly interested in, he may make a very rare exception.

  • Pickups are one of the most important details of an electric guitar when it comes to the tone of the instrument. We have spent years trying out different pickups from different brands across the world (even before we were building our own guitars and were just doing repairs), and settled on Lambertones pickups as our stock option for all things clean, and Bare Knuckle Pickups or DiMarzio Pickups for everything beyond that, due to the incredible quality, versatility, and dynamic response of all of their pickups.

That being said, not having our own in-house pickups also means that you can choose any pickups you’d like for custom builds, and know exactly what they’ll sound like based on the existing plentiful pickup demos.

While we have contemplated making our own signature pickups, the additional costs and time required to make and QC them would dramatically increase our already long lead-times.

  • This is the big one. We answer this question at least once a week.

Unfortunately, we are not open to visitors.

We are a manufacturer, and not a retail store. It would further delay our custom order lead times if we constantly had to stop working to host guests that want to come in and try out guitars.

Usually the only guitars playable in-house are the ones you see available as stock in our online store, and finished custom orders awaiting final QC before being shipped out to their owners.

We are actively seeking retailers to carry our guitars, so that you can go and try them out in a store side by side with your favorite guitars and amps. If you want to be able to try out our guitars in your favorite local music store, let them know! We have special pricing prepared for retailers and are happy to work with them to get them some stock.

  • Unfortunately, I get this question frequently, and the answer is no.

As much as I would love to, I simply cannot afford to front the material costs AND all the labor hours to make guitars for free, especially with no promise of any returns on that investment. That isn’t fair to me, or any other independent guitar makers out there.

HOWEVER, I do reserve special pricing for artists with a decent social media following, who want to do some promotional content for Moon Guitars!

If you are interested, please use the Contact form below, and provide links to your social media pages so I can see your audience size and engagement. I am more than happy to work with musicians who are realistic about a mutually beneficial deal.
